Guinness Case
Release 2 - May 31, 2000
PRESS RELEASE
May 31, 2000
On June 1st at 9:00 a.m. in Department 25, San Francisco Superior Court, 850 Bryant Street, Joey Trimm, the first person to be convicted of cruelty to an animal under the California Three Strikes Law, will be sentenced for the 1997 killing of Guinness, a 4-month-old shepherd mix puppy.
Sentencing was to have taken place on May 25, but there was some confusion and disagreement between the DA's office and the defense attorney over the terms of the plea bargain. Therefore, the judge put off sentencing for a week in order to give them time to work out their differences.
